    When you get this information tracked properly, start to cut out some of the food you are eating. Notice that I didn’t say to starve yourself half to death here. Just cut some of the food out. You can do a search online for what is called the “caloric value” of each food that you are eating, to get a total of how many calories a day you are consuming. Start at around five hundred calories reduction from your diet. This is the ideal point to help lose body fat. Play around with that number a bit to find out what works best for you.

    Pass that caloric intake value around

    Then break the food consumption/caloric burn value into a weekly amount, because you are only going to exercise seriously about three or four times a week. You do need to give your muscles a rest so they can fix themselves back up again. Take your weekly numbers and break them down into the value of a day, so you know how much to burn each day you exercise.

    This should give you all you need to know to get that body burning fat without all the stress and unecessary starvation. Create a lack of energy source and your body will look elsewhere…your body fat. Then, it’s burn, baby, burn!

    A workout without weights, well, a lot of people are skeptical. Look around your local gym and all you see are stair steppers, stationary bikes, ellipticals, not to mention free weights and a whole bunch of other apparatus that are a mystery to me. Folks have really bought into the need for a lot of exercise stuff. Hey, those infomercials wouldn’t be on TV unless a lot of you were buying!

    But this article is about weights specifically. So, while I am the queen of working out without weights (that’s a self-appointed title in case you were wondering!heh heh), I’ll be honest, I do use free weights sometimes. Let me also share the fact that it’s mostly just for vanity, NOT overall health, NOT for general muscle-building, nor fat-burning. Quite frankly, I like my arms to be a little more toned or defined than what I get from bodyweight exercise. I don’t think you NEED to utilize weights if your main goal for working out is fat loss and muscle gain. Although there are a few great exercises with weights, the vast majority are just too inefficient, and too prone toward causing you overuse and underuse issues.

    What’s really so great about a workout without weights?

    And why am I so gung-ho about a workout without weights? A couple really good reasons. One reason is because of balance and symmetry. Most free weight exercises are only working one muscle or group of muscles at a time, which is very inefficient. It also creates an imbalance between the primary and secondary muscles. One set of muscles get stronger while the other gets weaker through lack of use. This is the perfect equation for easy injury. With bodyweight exercises, your body is required to engage many muscle groups, which is more efficient, and also a more well-rounded approach that minimizes injury.

    The greatest part is that you can exercise anywhere, anytime, and for whatever fitness level you are. Did you realize that you have everything you need to get in great shape right now, spending about 20-30 minutes 3 or more times a week?
